Brain Seal Removal

R — 原文 (Reading)

R — Reading

There are two seals in your brain that haven't been unlocked! ... The first seal: negative words. Our brains can only accept positive words, not negative ones. When you use positive words, the seal is unlocked, and your brain starts working immediately. ... The second seal: negative emotions. When negative emotions come, the system crashes, and the brain stops thinking. The way to eliminate negative emotions is not to control them after they arise, but to prevent them from appearing in the first place! ... Emotions are not the problem itself; all control methods are just temporary fixes. —— Chapter 13 "Is Your Brain Sealed?"

(Interpretation)

I — Methodology Framework

  1. There are two seals in the brain that stop people from thinking: negative words (lockdown at the language level) and negative emotions (collapse at the emotional level)
  2. Seal 1 (negative words): The brain cannot process the concept of "no" — "Don't be nervous" makes you more nervous instead. Replace "I can't" with "How can I make it work", and the brain shifts from stagnation to operation
  3. Seal 2 (negative emotions): Negative emotions actually come from two sources — mismatched beliefs (conflict between reality and expectations) and insufficient ability (current ability cannot handle the problem at hand)
  4. Three ineffective ways to handle emotions: suppression (more severe outbursts later), venting (harms relationships and self-image), distraction (temporary fix, rebounds at night)
  5. Emergency three-step method: Awareness (detect emotions) → Understanding (identify motivation and belief conflicts) → Transformation (replace with positive words + NLP presuppositions)
  6. Long-term solutions: (1) Improve problem-solving abilities (eliminate the source of "insufficient ability") (2) Refine the belief system — learn the 12 NLP presuppositions to reduce emotional triggers caused by "should be so"
  7. Key cognitive shift: It's not that your ability to control emotions becomes stronger, but that few things can trigger your negative emotions anymore

(Past Application)

A1 — Past Application in the Book

  • Counter-effect of "Don't be nervous": You tell yourself not to get nervous, but end up more nervous — because the brain can't process "no", it only focuses on "nervous". Change it to "I need to stay calm", and the brain will automatically find ways to stay calm
  • Belief conflict on wedding anniversary: You expect "my husband should prepare a surprise today" (belief), but he forgets due to overtime (reality). Mismatched beliefs → anger. If you use the NLP presupposition "Everyone makes the best choice at the time", you can shift from anger to understanding
  • Negative word replacement exercise: Change "I have no way" → "I haven't found a way yet"; "This doesn't work" → "I need to try another way". The left side is a stagnant dilemma, the right side is a dynamic solution

(Future Trigger)

A2 — Future Trigger Scenarios

When to use:
  • Your mind goes blank when facing challenges, trapped in the cycle of "I can't"
  • Overwhelmed by emotions like anger, anxiety, or fear, unable to think rationally
  • Repeatedly losing control of emotions in the same scenario (e.g., provoked by a certain type of person)
  • Decision-making is hijacked by emotions, leading to regret afterwards
  • Help others (subordinates, children) get out of negative emotions
Language signals:
  • "I can't/I can't do it/I have no way"
  • "I'm furious/I'm going crazy"
  • "My mind is blank"
  • "The more I think, the more annoyed I get"
  • "I can't control myself"
  • "This is impossible/It shouldn't be like this"
Differentiation from adjacent skills:
  • vs. dialysis-prism: Dialysis prism is used to solve specific problems (analyze the three elements of ABC), while brain seal removal is used to restore the brain's operational ability (unlock the seal first before using the prism). The order is: unlock the seal first → then analyze the problem
  • vs. structured-thinking: Structured thinking is a tool for the rational brain, but if the seal is not unlocked, the rational brain cannot be activated at all

(Execution)

E — Executable Steps

Step 1: Emergency Handling — Awareness→Understanding→Transformation

  • Awareness: Say the name of your current emotion to yourself in your mind ("I'm angry/anxious/scared right now"). This step alone can partially activate the rational brain
  • Understanding: Ask yourself three questions — (1) What is my motivation? What do I want to get through this emotion? (2) Which of my beliefs has been violated by the other party/the world? (3) Is this belief itself necessarily correct?
  • Transformation: Check for negative words in emotional expressions and replace them with positive words (e.g., "He shouldn't do this" → "I hope he would do this"); find a 12 NLP presupposition that can explain the current situation and give you strength to replace the original belief
  • Completion standard: The intensity of emotions drops from above 8 points to below 5 points, and you can resume rational thinking

Step 2: Long-term Conditioning — Refine the Belief System

  • Systematically learn the 12 NLP presuppositions and take them as daily principles for dealing with people and things (e.g., "No two people are the same", "Repeating old methods will only get old results", "Every behavior has a positive motive behind it")
  • After each emotional trigger, record: triggering event → challenged belief → replaced positive belief. Form a "Belief Upgrade Log"
  • Completion standard: Record the Belief Upgrade Log for 30 consecutive days, replacing at least 5 old "should be so" beliefs

Step 3: Long-term Conditioning — Improve Abilities

  • Identify the types of scenarios that most easily trigger your negative emotions (e.g., public speaking, interpersonal conflicts, time pressure)
  • Targetedly improve the core abilities required for these scenarios (e.g., speech training, communication skills, time management)
  • After improving abilities, the scenarios that originally triggered emotions no longer pose a threat
  • Completion standard: After three months, review the initial list of trigger scenarios, and at least 50% of them no longer trigger strong negative emotions

B — 边界 (Boundary)

B — Boundary

Scenarios not to use:
  • Severe mental health problems (depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder) require professional psychological counseling or medical intervention, which cannot be solved by "changing words"
  • Normal positive emotions (excitement, joy, touch) — no need to "unlock", these are resources, not seals
  • Emergency scenarios requiring quick instinctive reactions (e.g., danger escape) — emotional reactions are protective mechanisms at this time
Failure modes:
  • Treat "positive thinking" as "self-deception": It's not ignoring reality, but describing reality in a more constructive way
  • Only do emergency handling without long-term conditioning: The three-step method is just a band-aid; without refining the belief system and improving abilities, the same problems will trigger repeatedly
  • Mistake "not getting angry" as the goal: The goal is to keep the brain functioning and make good decisions, not to become an emotionless robot
  • "Rationalize" everything with NLP presuppositions: Presuppositions are thinking tools, not dogmas; mechanical application is a new kind of seal
Author's blind spots:
  • Insufficient discussion on "negative emotions are sometimes correct signals" — anger may indicate that boundaries have been violated, and fear may indicate real danger. Not all negative emotions need to be "unlocked"
  • The effectiveness of the 12 NLP presuppositions lacks empirical support; it is more of a belief system than a scientific conclusion
  • The "emergency three-step method" is difficult to execute in a state of actual anger, because the rational brain is indeed shut down at that time — specific techniques for "how to activate awareness in the moment of emotion" need to be added (e.g., body anchors: deep breathing, washing face with cold water, etc.)
